Mission

The Mission of the Language & Culture Bank (LCB) is to provide a vehicle through which people with world language and cross cultural communication skills may make their skills available to assist community agencies with concerns of homeland security, disaster response, emergency preparedness, crisis management, public health and public safety as they work with people in the Tulsa Metro area whose ability to receive and interpret life saving information is presently compromised by culture, ethnic, religious traditions, or language.

Vision

To educate and to increase awareness in targeted communities that have special communication needs in disaster preparedness and recruit and train members of those communities who have language and cultural skills to assist first responders during disasters

Who we are

A team of volunteers with different backgrounds and skills always ready to help others during a difficult time.

What we do and don't

By participating in the Language & Culture Bank, volunteers can help build bridges to all people in our community so that when an incident occurs or as anxiety increases in our neighborhoods, they have the knowledge and skills to work together quickly and effectively to meet the needs of families in greater Tulsa.

LCB does not compete with professional interpreters or their contracts/MOU's with first responding agencies. LCB is called in when the needs exceed the capacity of their contracts.

Supporting Organizations
